toblockchain at European Utility Week 2017Last week TOBLOCKCHAIN was one of the exhibitors at the European Utility Week 2017. This is the premier business, innovation and information event for the smart utility community.

The event made it possible to meet with experts from utilities, network operators, vendors, consultants, start-ups and system integrators covering the entire smart system value chain. All with the objective to help the smart energy industry drive efficiencies in meeting sustainable development goals.

The European Utility Week was attended by approximately 12,000 international visitors from all levels of the utility value chain. From technology giants to start-ups and from senior-level experts to young talent. Topics discussed were developments in Grid optimisation, Blockchain Utility Solutions, Renewables, Energy Storage, Smart Metering, Smart Cities, Smart Homes, Energy & Efficiency, Energy Trading, Intelligent Buildings, Data Management, Analytics, and IoT. Also Cyber Security, Smart Gas and Smart Water were well-covered topics.

The European Utility Week provided a summit with interesting strategic discussions and hub sessions for more practical industry solutions. In addition, there were 600 exhibitors offering end-to-end industry solutions.

European Utility Week, a high quality smart utility event

It has been an amazing experience for TOBLOCKCHAIN. We are positively surprised by the quality of the visitors. We presented PowerToShare to senior executives and decision-makers of European and American utilities. For a small start-up it is an honour to have some of the largest energy and utilities companies visiting directly at the TOBLOCKCHAIN stand and experiencing the power of Blockchain viewing the PowerToShare demo.

During the week we had the pleasure to announce two project wins for our PowerToShare proposition:

  1. We announced the selection of TOBLOCKCHAIN for the development of a prototype blockchain application for peer-to-peer energy trading in the Rotterdam region in the Netherlands. A project we will deliver in close cooperation with BlockLab, the new blockchain field-lab in Rotterdam and with the support of The Green Village and ENGIE.
  2. We could also announce that TOBLOCKCHAIN is selected for the development of a blockchain application for peer-to-peer energy trading in Groningen, the Netherlands. This project will be executed with project partners DNV GL and Gasunie.

Another positive surprise was to have executives from Intel, Microsoft and IBM visit the stand and show their interest. We got lots of positive feedback, follow-up meeting request and collaboration offers. And the best part, we got all the best wishes from the eco-system. Thank you Synergy-Events for giving us an opportunity to be part of the European Utility Week 2017.
